Appearing shortly as Mary in The South Westerlies (Deadpan Pictures in partnership with RTE and Unicorn TV) Jean Law is an actress with many film, television and theatre credits. She has appeared in more than 44 short and feature length films (for which she has 21 IMDb credits), several of which were award winning such as Jambite (Hypatia Productions), On the Hemline and Oiche Nollaig na mBan (Tyrella Films), The Run, (Laugalis Productions), Children’s Allowance (Brian Stynes Productions), The Eclipse (Treasure Entertainment). and Breathe Out (Ego Productions).

 

She has featured in TV shows including The Bailout (WhiteFriar Film Productions), Fair City (RTE), Striking Out (Blinder Films) and The Guarantee (John Kelleher Media).

 

She has also appeared in several commercial promotions including Failte Ireland’s campaigns on Visit Dublin.com, Irelands Ancient East and Pure Cork.

 

Her many theatre appearances include her role as Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman (Everyman Theatre, Cork), Zakia in My name is Zakia (No Borders, Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin) and several UCC Players productions including as Countess Markievicz in Walking with Ireland into the Sun by Finola Doyle-O’Neill, Maisie Curtin in The Inheritance by Derry Cotter and Romaine Heilger in Witness for the Prosecution by Agatha Christie. Jean has worked with Empire Line Productions when she played Rebecca Marshall in Play House Creatures and the characters Kate and Rose in Between Mouthfuls, Kathy in the Regina Monologues all directed by Mary Curtin with whom she co-wrote and co-produced two short films, Sonnet 30 and Sonnet 91.

 

She appeared most recently in Love her bones with Jon Kenny and Frank Twomey (Ross Carey Productions) which premiered at the Fastnet Film Festival (2019) and also appeared on stage as Dympha O’Leary in A Sunday in September with the Kilmeen Drama Group in Rossmore, Co Cork in July/August 2019. A PhD scientist, Jean trained as an actress under the tutelage of Mary Curtin and has qualifications from the London College of Music and Media. Jean is a member of Spotlight.
